I call this Almost Charlie’s Daiquiri because it’s almost like the one he served me in the keys. I did not see him mix it so am not completely certain of the ratio of juices and rum but this comes pretty close. Some would say it needs a maraschino cherry or maraschino cherry juice to come near what Hemmingway was reported to drink, but I simply cannot put cherry anything in my daiquiri; and neither could Charlie.
There is no sugar or simple syrup. The sweetness comes from the juice and the rum and the grapefruit juice. Be sure to use fresh juice. It makes a difference.
2 oz white rum
1 ½ oz grapefruit juice
1 ½ oz lime juice
ice, chopped in rough chunks or small ice cubes
lime wedge for garnish
