Rich and complex, the Boulevardier is considered the strongest child of a Negroni. The use of rye whiskey deepens the cocktail and reminds one of an early Autumn evening.
There are two versions for the Boulevardier. For a classic flavor, mix equal parts of the rye whiskey, Campari and sweet vermouth. A more modern approach increases the whiskey to 1 ½ ounces and decreases the Campari and vermouth to ¾ ounce each.
Choose the whiskey wisely. Angel’s Envy Rye is first preference for its maple sweetness, but any quality rye works well. Not a rye fan, choose a well rounded bourbon such as Four Roses Single Barrel.
