Smooth and deep, this is the perfect after dinner drink with dessert. Combining vodka, coffee and coffee liqueur it could easily be served warm but resist. Chilled by stirring with ice and brightened with a twist of lemon peel, the drink provides a luxurious cooling closure to dinner.
There are two ways to mix with each resulting in a different look. Stirred with ice is smoothly black when poured into the martini glass. Shaken with ice and a foam appears on the top as it is poured into the martini glass. Either way, the drink is decedent and a coffee lover’s favorite.
The flavors can be changed by switching plain vodka for vanilla or chocolate and the coffee liqueur for a French vanilla coffee liquor.
1 ½ ounces vodka
1 ½ ounces coffee liqueur
1 ounce espresso
Pour all ingredients into mixing glass filled with ice or shaker filled with ice. Stir or shake for 20 seconds and strain into martini glass. Twist a lemon peel over the glass and drop into the drink.
